Lonesome George: The 200 pound, 5 foot long reptile was thought to be in the prime of his life around 100 years old, which is not particularly old for a giant tortoise.George was the last remaining tortoise in his particular subspecies, Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni, which is believed to date back some 10 million years. The giant tortoises had evolved like many creatures on the isolated Galapagos archipelago to become large and trusting.

Scientists had been trying to get George to mate since 1993, when they introduced two female tortoises of a different subspecies into his pen. They laid eggs twice, but they were infertile.

The pen where George lived was visited by thousands of tourists every year, who often had to scramble with each other to take pictures of one of the rarest creatures on Earth. Tortoises were hunted for their meat by sailors and fishermen to the point of extinction, while their habitat has been eaten away by goats introduced from the mainland. Some 20,000 giant tortoises still live on the Galapagos.

Charles Darwin was a brilliant naturalist who changed the way people think about life on earth. One reason why he was able to do this was because he was always passionate about science and nature. He was born on 12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882 in the United Kingdom.

Darwin's father was a famous doctor, however Darwin hated medicine. He loved the nature but he hated the school and his dad thought that he was a very lazy person and he wanted that his soon follow him with the job. His father tried that Darwin studied medicine, but he just stayed on the beach looking the landscape.

Charles quit medicine and his Dad suggested a new career, he could become a priest. Charles went to Christ’s College, Cambridge to study to become a priest… but he didn’t really like that! He spent all his time with his cousin collecting thousands of beetles. At Cambridge Charles met Professor Henslow who was big into plants, and Professor Sedgwick who was big into rocks. They took Charles under their wing and taught him how to study nature in a scientific way. Finally Charles found something he loved.

 When Charles was 22, he went in a trip around the world, he stayed in a big ship called Beagle. In this trip he could study a lot of the nature and he learnt many things. He developed the theory of Darwinism and Natural selection.

• Astronomy:

The astronomy is the science that study celestial objects like: Moon, planets, stars etc...

Astronomy is one of the oldest science. During the 20th century, the field of professional astronomy split into observational and theoretical branches. Observational astronomy is focused on adquiring data from observations of celestial objects, which is then analyzed using basic principles of physics. Theoretical astronomy is oriented towards the development of computer or analytical models to describe astronomical objects and phenomena.

Astronomy is not to be confused with astrology the belief system which claims that human affairs are correlated with the positions of celestial objects. Although the two fields share a common origin they are now entirely distinct.

• Astrology:

The  Astrology is, put simply, the study of the correlation between the astronomical positions of the planets and events on earth. Astrologers believe that the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the time of a person's birth have a direct influence on that person's character. These positions are thought to affect a person's destiny, although many Astrologers feel that free will plays a large role in any individual's life.Astrology can be used as a powerful and fun tool for understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us. We use many different tools, or languages, to define and understand our world. For example, we  can use psychological tools and terminology to explore human behavior. Similarly, Astrology gives us rich tools for understanding human character, and offers us a language for communicating our observations with others.

How is organized the universe?

The universe is organized in a basic structure. It has some categories were we can find Stars, Comets, asteroids,Planets etc...
After the "Big Bang" the universe is organised in a specific structure wich forms are polyhedras. At the beggining of the history, the man has always focus in the stars and the moon to cultivate or to do wars, but actually with science knowledge we use it to know more about the history of our planet and to develop new things.

Structure:

The universe is formed by:

Milky Way that is part of a big group of 30 galaxies. This is comprised in a group called "Virgo Supercluster" (composed by thousands of galaxies and a trillions of stars)
The Sun, is the principal star that have planets like: Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune and Pluto.
The sun is an average star with planets located in a middle of a large spiral galaxy, the Milky Way. There are a hundred billion stars and perhaps a similar number of planets. On very dark nights see the section of our galaxy. All the stars that we see with the eyes is part of the Milky Way.

There constellations, but many of them are not real and are coming legends of ancient history.
Constellations are stars with forms and names. Most are not real groups, not all stars of the same constellation are the same distance from the earth.

Felix Baumgartner

Felix Baumgartner was born on 20 april 1969 in Austria. He is an skydiver and a base jumper.

He started to do big things in 1999, he claimed the world record for the highest parachute jump from the build Petronas in Malaysia. In 2003 Felix, became the first person to skydive across the English channel using a species of wings.

Baumgartner is really proffessional doing his job and he is so brave.

• Preparación para el salto mas importante de su carrera.

En el 2010 se escuchó que Felix Baumgartner estaba preparándose para hacer el salto mas alto de la historia que jamas se a echo antes. En principio Felix iba a saltar desde una altura de 36.000 metros de altura e iba ascender en un globo lleno de helio. Su objetivo sería alcanzar tal velocidad que se rompa la barrera del sonido, es decir, de aproximadamente unos 1000 Km/h.

Esto se pensaba llevar a cabo en 2011 pero tuvo que ser retenido el proyecto por una demanda que puso el creador de esta idea.

En 2012 se reanudó el proyecto. En Marzo se hizo una prueba efectuando un salto desde 21.000 metros de altura en el que se realizó perfectamente, en Junio se volvió a intentar, pero esta vez desde una altura de 30.000 metros y alcanzando una velocidad de unos 500 Km/h. Con esto batió el record de máxima altura.

Baumgartner initially struggled with clautrophobia after spending time in the pressurized suit required for the jump, but overcame it with help from a sport psychologist and other specialists.

• Achievement.

On 14 October 2012 when Baumgartner landed in eastern New Mexico after jumping from a world record 39,045 metres or just over 39 kilometres. On the basis of provisional data, Baumgartner also set the record for the highest manned balloon flight (at the same height) and fastest speed of free fall at 1,342 kilometres per hour making him the first human to break the sound barrier outside of a vehicle.
